After years writing music fronted by other singers, it took a song recorded in the wrong key and a push from a local producer Gareth Young (Cube Recording) to find himself in front of a mic and singing on his own material.
Gareth Is a singer/songwriter hailing from the small village of Lanner in Cornwall.
His love of Blues/Folk/Country/Soul&Alternative music have combined to make a unique sound hard to pigeon hole.
With an intricate rhythmic guitar playing style developed from merging his years as a bass player over to guitar, catchy vocal hooks & heartfelt lyrics he aims to bring a new take to the singer/songwriter scene.
Gigging relentlessly over the past year helped to raise his profile on the local music scene and he soon found himself being offered support slots for acts like Pete Murray (No 1 selling Australian singer/songwriter) Upcoming artist Ryan Keen (Ed Sheeran’s main support on his last UK Tour) and Festival slots at Boardmasters 2012 headlined by Ed Sheeran & Dizzy Rascal + Leopalloza 2012 – Fenech Soler, Flash Fiktion & Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip
He Recently won the Barefoot & Riverfish Music Studios joint songwriting competition to win a slot performing at the Barefoot Festival opened by Michael Eavis from Glastonbury Festival and the chance to record with multi-platinum selling producer Joe Dworniak at Riverfish Studios who has production&engineering credits for the likes of Paul Weller, Kirsty Mc Coll, Chrissie Hinde, Paul McCartney & Desmond Decker to name but a few.
With a new EP to promote “Wide Open Spaces” recorded at Cube Studios with Producer Gareth Young he is looking forward to taking his music to a wider audience.
Citing the likes of Fink, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Yoav, & Jeff Buckley as his main influences its well worth seeing his unique sound live.
